Pop Up Webinar on May 27th to Understand the Importance of New York’s HERO Act

During it, you’ll learn about the newly enacted HERO Act, which requires New York employers to take certain steps to ensure a safe workplace.

By June 4, 2021, employers must publish an “Airborne Infectious Disease Exposure Prevention Standard Policy.” The Commissioner of Labor will be creating a model policy for all work sites, differentiated by industry, which employers must then adopt, post, and publish in the Employee Handbook.

The policy must be provided to employees in writing in English and in the primary language of the employees upon reopening after a period of closure due to airborne infectious disease and upon hiring. Failure to do so will subject the employer to penalties and litigation by employees.

During the webinar we will be discussing the policy mandates.

Also, by November 1, 2021 private employers with at least 10 employees must allow employees to establish a joint employer-employee workplace health and safety committee authorized to raise health and safety issues and evaluate workplace health and safety policies. While no action will be required at this time regarding establishing the committee, we recommend that you start to identify potential employees (supervisory and nonsupervisory) to be included on the joint labor-management workplace safety committee.

The webinar will take place Thursday, May 27th | 8:00am – 9:00am
Presented by Sima Ali, Esq.
